Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP)

A project-specific insurance program where the general contractor provides coverage for all subcontractors.

A Contractor Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP) is functionally similar to an OCIP except that the general contractor, rather than the owner, sponsors and administers the wrap-up policy. Under a CCIP, the GC's program covers enrolled subs for CGL, Workers' Comp, and sometimes builder's risk on a specific project. CCIPs give the GC more control over claims management and loss prevention but also increase administrative burden. Sub enrollment, off-site coverage, and wrap-up exclusion verification are all GC responsibilities under a CCIP.
