Certificate Holder

The party that receives a Certificate of Insurance from the insured.

The Certificate Holder is the party listed in the lower-left box of an ACORD 25 Certificate of Insurance. This is the party that the certificate is being issued to, typically a general contractor, property owner, or lender requesting proof of the insured's coverage. Important: being a Certificate Holder confers no coverage whatsoever. It is purely a mailing address. To actually be covered by the insured's policy, a party must be named as an Additional Insured via a separate endorsement.
